Dear Parents or Guardians,
We don't have school Thursday and Friday this week because of our Word of Truth Conference, which starts Wednesday night in our auditorium at 7:pm. This conference to our school is the equivalent to our teacher conference. For years, we went to various conferences with our teachers, like almost all schools do, and we just didn't find them that helpful, so we started having our own. The Word of Truth Conference is for our school too.
I'm going to ask a favor of you. Could you come to at least one session? We will meet every nigh for exposition of the Bible, starting at 7pm -- Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday nights. There will be two 40 minute messages on Friday, but one on Wednesday and Thursday. We are having two pastors, Bobby Mitchell and Dave Mallinak.
In the mornings, we are covering in depth subjects that relate to the theme of how apostasy occurs in the day in which we live. Apostasy is a turn form the truth, and there is a downward slide away from the Bible in our culture and world. These sessions will deal with why, so that we can be a force for impeding that trend. Out of these times in the morning will come book chapters and a book in the near future, entitled, I-Magination.
The first morning, Thursday, from 10 until noon, with a break in the middle, will deal with parachurch organizations versus the church, the second from 10 to noon on Friday morning will be two shorter sessions on doubt versus certainty and sentimentalism versus love, and then the third at the same time on Saturday morning will deal with social networking. These are topics at least worthy of thinking about.
We will meet on Sunday morning as well, and some of you have your own churches. If you don't, you are welcome to be here for the session at 9:45am and then at 11:00am. After a potluck in the afternoon, we will finish the conference with a panel discussion at 2:45pm.
Thank you for your support, parents, and we would love if you could come to as many of these as possible, and at least one. There will be a nursery for every session.
Sincerely,
Kent Brandenburg
