Spelling Bee
1. November – January—work on words in class and at home.
2. January 30—We will choose finalists for the 4th-8th grade National Spelling Bee held February 3 and the BCA Competition spelling bee held March 9.
a. We will choose 2 or 3 per grade of the 1st-6th grades.
b. We will choose 3 or 4 from 7th-8th grades combined and 3 or 4 from the 9th-12th grades combined.
3. February 3—4th-8th Grade Spelling Bee to determine which student will represent BCA in Walnut Creek to compete for the chance to go to the National Spelling Bee in Washington DC.
4. March 9—BCA Competition Spelling Bee for all spellers chosen January 30.
Speeches
1. December and January—work on memory and interpretation.
2. February 17—We will choose finalists for the BCA competition.
a. We will choose 2 or 3 per grade of the 1st-6th grades.
b. We will choose 3 or 4 from the 7th-8th grades combined and 3 or 4 from the 9th-12th grades combined.
Science/History Fair
1. January 27—Open House. All projects completed by this week.
2. Judges choose winners. No more competing for the school-wide competition once the Open House ends.
a. We will choose 2 winners from 4th grade.
b. We will choose 3 winners from 5th-6th grades combined.
c. We will choose 3 winners from 7th-8th grades combined.
d. We will choose 3 winners from 9th-12th grades combined.
Bible Quizzing
1. 1st-6th Grades—I Samuel; 7th-12th Grades—Galatians
2. February 24—We will choose finalists according to the same number of finalists as speeches and spelling bee.
Competition
1. March 9—BCA Competition. All students are required to attend school. Kindergarten will observe the competition during the day.
2. March 14-15—Independent Baptist Academic and Fine Arts Competition held at BCA for the 7th-12th graders. No school for the K-6th graders on March 15. We need all teachers available on Thursday to help judge.
3. Friday, March 16 is Teacher’s Personal Business Day.
