Spelling Bee – Congratulations to the spelling bee winners: Ashley Parker – 1st place, Nigel Pitters – 2nd place, and Victoria Sutton – 3rd place. Ashley Parker will represent our school in Walnut Creek at regional spelling bee later this spring. The winner of that contest goes to Washington D.C. to compete in the National Spelling Bee.
Academic/Fine Arts Competition – Included in this week’s newsflash was the application for the March 13th competition. The competition is a great opportunity for students to sharpen their skills in specialized areas. The competition helps develop students’ strengths and well-roundedness. All of the non-required events are $5 per event, maximum of $10. No student will pay more than $15 to compete in the competition. All applications and money for the competition must be turned in by February 23.
Competition Helpers – The day of the competition, we will need several parents to help with judging, grading, and monitoring.
1. Judges are needed for art, home ec, and spelling.
2. Monitors are needed for free-throw shooting, ping pong, and chess.
3. Graders are needed for math, history, and Bible tests.
4. Hot lunch helpers are needed for… well, hot lunch.
If you can help on March 13th for all or part of the day in any of these ways, we would be appreciative. The smooth flow of the day in a large way depends upon our parent helpers. This can count towards your 8 volunteer hours. We will send home a volunteer sign-up list in a couple of weeks.
Yearbook – Yearbook sponsors needed. If you or someone you know is willing to help sponsor the Bethel Yearbook, please send $50.00 and a business card which will be printed in the yearbook.
