Dear parents,
Today starts our annual Read-a-Thon Fundraiser. I want to encourage you to participate in the fundraiser. Every child will spend extra time reading in the classroom during these next two weeks. But we also need every child to get sponsors. This is really important. We try to keep tuition affordable; but if were are going to do this, we need you to do your part when it comes to fundraising.
Some schools require their families to give a specified amount toward fundraising, often several hundred dollars; and this is above a much higher tuition fee they pay. We don't require that, but in so doing, some of our families don't participate. Every family can give something, and, I believe, should give something. Even if you have to be creative in how you raise the money.
Giving to the Read-a-Thon says something about your value of the school. Jesus said, "For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also" (Matthew 6:21). Giving teaches your children to be involved, and as well to be giving. Giving helps the school facilities, and giving encourages others to give.
All said and done, giving to the Read-a-Thon is a choice. Perhaps you could give something up that you were planning for yourself. Whatever your situation is, think about what you can do, and let's decide to give.
Sincerely,
Pastor Sutton
