Dear Parents,
The Bible says that Jesus increased in wisdom and stature, and in favor with God and man (Luke 2:52). Because Jesus developed in these ways, we want our students to develop in these same ways. When scripture says that Jesus increased in wisdom, it means that Jesus increased in His abilities to apply truth in the proper way. First and foremost, that would be to learn how to apply the Word of God. You see, God gave us His word, not just to memorize and to understand, but ultimately to live. Using the Bible to make decisions in life is what God wants for each of us.
Applied to academics, this means that a student should know the facts of a particular subject and as well he should understand those facts; but ultimately he needs to use those facts. Learning becomes meaningful and permanent when we put it into practice or when we see how it can be put into practice. Jesus used correctly what He learned. A great combination is for us as educators and you as parents to work together in teaching our children the same way: to use correctly what they learn.
Sincerely,
Pastor Sutton
