From the Principal
Dear Parents,
I want to take the opportunity to remind our parents of the dress standard we ask our mothers to follow when they help out with school functions. As a church, we believe that there ought to be a distinction in the way ladies dress from how men dress. That is based on Deuteronomy 22:5 and I Corinthians 11:5ff. In our culture, the primary visible articles of clothing that distinguish men’s dress from women’s dress are pants and skirts/dresses—pants on men and skirts/dresses on ladies. Distinction in dress is a big subject, but one major reason for having distinction in dress is to distinguish the role of the man from the role of the woman.
We do not require that families practice this to enroll at Bethel Christian Academy, but we do ask that they practice this when they help out in the school.
What we ask is that when ladies volunteer in the school (e.g. in the classroom, for hot lunch, on field trips, or at the competition), that they wear a modest, knee-length or longer skirt or dress. The reason is that we want to set a consistent example to the students of what we as a church and school promote.
We do not believe that wearing certain articles of clothing makes a person a Christian or that all ladies who wear dresses are saved. But we do believe that saved people should be concerned about their dress and should want to honor the Lord in their dress.
I do not mind talking about biblical dress to folks. I like talking about the Bible, so you are always welcome to bring it up. Thank you for your consideration.
Sincerely,
Pastor Sutton
