From The Principal's Desk
Dear Parents,
Last April, the California Assembly voted 46-25 to amend Section 221.5 of the State Education Code. The amended code is intended to allow greater expression of transgender students within their public school’s academic programs and activities.
The ultimate calamity of AB 1266 is in paragraph f, which reads:
A pupil shall be permitted to participate in sex-segregated school programs and activities,
including athletic teams and competitions, and use facilities consistent with his or her gender
identity, irrespective of the gender listed on the pupil’s records.
Did you catch the phrase in the last part? “and use facilities consistent with his or her gender identity.” This means that a boy who thinks he is a girl (or wants to think he is a girl) can use the girls’ bathroom, and if he-she is on a girls’ sports team, use the girls’ locker room and showers, even though anatomically he is a boy. The same would be true of a girl who claims she is really a boy. The code also opens the door for a boy who just wants to find a way to get into the girls’ locker room. The amended law goes into effect January 1, 2014.
Our children go to a Christian school, where we don’t deal with these kinds of atrocities. But maybe someday, one of our children does go to a public school and plays on a sports team or works out in the gym. What would you want your child to be exposed to? I would think there would be public outrage over this law. By the way, this new law won’t stop with public places of instruction.
There is a petition circulating to collect signatures to overturn the effects of AB 1266 by putting a referendum on an upcoming ballot. If you would like to sign the petition, we have them available in the school office. You must be a registered voter to sign the petition. If you are not registered, we have a few voter registration cards. We also have extra petitions that you can take to other locations if you would like.
The Bible talks about how things will be in the last days: “For men shall be lovers of their own selves…” (II Timothy 3:2ff). We should do what we can to stem the tide.
Sincerely,
Pastor Sutton
